Like many villages in South Northants, Whittlebury's village hall is called the Reading Room. This title dates back to the days when its main use was to provide a place where the working men of the village could come and read a newspaper.

Today, the Reading Room is open throughout the year for various clubs and community groups as well as private functions such as children's parties, family celebrations and similar events, and the village's very popular "HUG" coffee mornings on Fridays, 10.00am to midday. Hyperfast super reliable broadband with speeds up to 900Mbps is provided by the GIGACLEAR COMMUNITY HUB SCHEME.

Following refurbishment of the main hall in early 2022 the building was reopened in late May. The kitchen has recently been refurbished and the exterior of the building repainted. Currently plans are being considered to renovate the lavatories and to reconfigure the use of the several storerooms in the building.

The playing field next to the Reading Room provides a play area for children, with equipment in a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a slide and swings etc. The field also hosts larger village events from time to time.

The Reading Room is available for hire and is an ideal venue for meetings, evening classes and other events. There are several rooms in addition to the main hall including the kitchen and a small breakout room. New doors exiting onto the patio have been installed with a ramp for wheelchair access.

The Reading Room is run as a charity by the Management Committee with the Parish Council as the Trustee
