Good news arrived a few days ago when it became clear that in view of overwhelming opposition, WNC had decided not to pursue the merger of Whittlebury and Silverstone parishes, a proposal that had been put forward last March.

The Reading Room Management Committee is pleased to announce that the Open Whittlebury event on Sunday 30th June 2024 raised a few pence short of £3,200, an amount that will be shared equally between St. Mary's church and the Reading Room.

A huge thank you to Rebecca Chapman and her team who worked tirelessly for a number of weeks before the event and ensured its success.

Some residents were erroneously given parking tickets in the village on Saturday morning while parked in non-coned areas. Obviously, this caused some upset and the Circuit has apologised for the error. The reason is unclear at the moment but the Circuit has confirmed that the tickets will be rescinded.

Silverstone Circuit announced the following update about parking restriction in the village on 31.7.24: -

Parking restrictions will not be in operation until 00.01 Saturday 3 August, and will end at 23.59 on Sunday 4 August. Cones will be put into place on Friday afternoon. Please note that enforcement will be in operation and will be from early Saturday morning.

Silverstone Circuit has issued further information about arrangements for taxis - plus traffic information - during the MotoGP event this coming weekend, 2nd-4th August 2024, and this is attached.

The attached document is a summation of the comments received from residents of the village about the traffic management and parking arrangements during the BGP, 5th-7th July 2024, and submitted to the Circuit and the Inter-Agency Group on Thursday 25th July 2024 by representatives of Whittlebury Parish Council.

The MotoGP event takes place next weekend, Friday 2nd August to Sunday 4th August, and attached is the Residents' Information Leaflet published by Silverstone Circuit and outlining the traffic management and parking arrangements for the area.
